The oldest part of the building is 600 years old and a former bastle house – a fortified dwelling providing defence during the middle ages when this part of the world was known as the"debatable lands" roamed by bands of outlaws from both sides of the border known as the Border Reivers.

Hadrian's Wall is just 30 minutes away, and in the nearby village of Otterburn, you can visit the site where the famous Battle of Otterburn took place in 1388, now remembered in the ballad by Walter Scott in the Battle of Chevy Chase.

If you want to include a trip to the beautiful Northumberland coastline, Alnmouth and Warkworth are approximately one hour away or Lindisfarne (Holy Island) or Bamburgh about one and a half hours away.

The Redesdale Arms is situated in a great location, with ten well appointed en-suite bedrooms including family rooms, and a disabled access room, all of which are comfortable, light and airy, with freeview TVs. Some of our rooms boast truly spectacular views over Rede Valley and the surrounding Hills. There is also a bar, lounge and restaurant which is ideal for hosting your special event.

The menu has something for everyone and Mark is always happy to prepare alternative dishes should you have any special dietary requirements. For breakfast you can enjoy a hearty Northumbrian breakfast or a lighter continental breakfast.
