| Located within the walled market town of Alnwick in Northumberland, The Gate Gallery has a fine selection of local artists works, jewellery, craftwork, gifts and books for sale. The Studio One Gallery holds regular exhibitions of local and visiting artists, with items for sale. The gallery is situated close to both Alnwick Castle, where the Harry Potter films were made, and The Alnwick Gardens, which has the largest tree house in Europe.

Studio One Gallery is upstairs from the shop with a wide range of originals and plays host to exhibits from many wonderful local artists such as renowned Borders artist Kate Philip, as well as Mary Ann Rogers Jim Kearney, Ken Spencer, Sarah Riseborough, Roger Coulam, Keith Proctor and David Holliday.

We also stock a wide range of framed hunting and animal prints by artists such as John Trickett and Malcolm Coward. The Gate Gallery has recently begun to stock superb framed prints by Gillian McDonald, Sue Howells and Paul Tavernor, as well as a selection of Northumberland originals by Lake District artist Diane Gainey.

There have also been exhibitions by the famous photographer Joe Cornish, and the gallery plays host to an annual selection of works by local children from the Duchess Community High School in Alnwick.

In the shop you will find the largest selection of artists materials in the whole of Northumberland, with excellent brushes, paper, canvases, oil paints, watercolours, acrylic paints and pastels.
The extensive range of materials is backed up with a superb knowledge of all things artistic and craft based, plus if there is anything you need that is not in the shop, it can be ordered for you.
There is a delightful range of locally made gifts for everyone on the ground floor, with cute bags by Hunky Dory, WonderBoa scarves, plus paintings and silhouettes by Helen Stuart and John Speight. You can choose from the stunning jewellery creations of Goose Island, Debbie and Duncan Wright, and Lucy Clayton, and magnificent solid bronze animal sculptures supplied by Richard Cooper.
As with all good galleries, the exhibits are constantly changing, but at The Gate Gallery they follow the theme of being from local artists, or of local locations. This provides an excellent opportunity to collect works by a favourite artist, or take a stunning view of the stunning local scenery home with you.
