| Sloe Crafts is based at Lorbottle West Steads Farm near Thropton where Helen & Leslie run the family farm. Four years ago they decided to diversify and Sloe Crafts was born.
Sloe Gin has been made for generations by Helen's family using Sloe's gathered from the hedgerows around the country side. Dad always brought me a bottle of Sloe Gin for my birthday saying that will get you through the stress of the lambing season.

I came up with the idea when we decided to diversify. Part of the diversification was to replant hedges around the farm so we decided to plant 75% Blackthorn in the hedges. Sloe Gin is Sloe Crafts signature product, and the recipe was given to me by my 90year old Father; the recipe was my grandmothers, and my Dad has many tales of life in Langley Valley of Hexham.

The wild berries are infused with Gin but the finer details of the recipe are kept close to the chest! We also make Raspberry Liqueur, Damson Liqueur and Cherry Brandy and are busy working on several others. No preservatives are used in this process.
We used to feed the fruit to the cattle after we had taken it from the alcohol (Someone suggested that we market our beef as Sloe gin Beef).
We now throw nothing away and have come up with Sloe Cheese, Damson's & Cherries in a light Syrup and Raspberry Conserve all made with the fruit after they come from the alcohol. We also offer many combinations of gifts & hampers made to personal requirements.
