Lorbottle West Steads is a working farm in the Cheviot valley on the outskirts of the Northumberland National Park, which is owned and run by the Farr family. Their bed and breakfast and self-catering holiday cottages are the perfect peaceful holiday destination from which to discover the magnificent North Northumberland countryside, and the Scottish Borders, with lots of local walks.
Guests have a great choice of either bed and breakfast accommodation in the lovely Victorian farmhouse, or two self-catering cottages, which can easily accommodate families in comfort.
The Farr's farmhouse is very welcoming and gives you the option of either a double room with an en-suite, or a twin room with its own bathroom for your stay.
Naturally both rooms are very well appointed with a colour TV, a complimentary selection of hot beverages, and a hairdryer.
Breakfast in the farmhouse is very hearty as one would expect, with a choice of cereals, juices, fruit and yogurt, plus a full Aga cooked breakfast, or simply free range eggs cooked to your taste with muffins.
There are always lashings of hot tea, toast, home made preserves including lemon and lavender, and a pot of freshly brewed coffee to wash it all down with of course!
Guests can use the lounge & dining rooms which both have beautiful open fires, and try the Farr's home made Sloe Gin, to get a taste of Northumbrian living.
The cottages are an integral part of the farm, and provide lovely spacious accommodation for parties up to five in Mordue's Cottage, and four in Grandma's Cottage: Cots are always available.
Both cottages have very well equipped kitchens with microwaves, washer dryers, and fridge freezers.
The bathrooms have electric showers over the baths, and they are centrally heated with the added benefit of a gas fire.
The cottages each have dinning rooms, as well as living rooms, with colour TV's, a video and CD player. All your bed linen is included in your stay, plus there's private parking for two cars. The cottages share the enclosed back and front gardens, plus there is also a gas barbeque for guests.
