| Visit the beautiful Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and you will be transported through time to an age when the island was at the very heart of Christianity in England.
Once known as the birth place of Christianity in Britain, Lindisfarne is where in the 8th century the monk Eadfrith laboured with painstaking care to produce the stunning book know as the Lindisfarne Gospels, which is now housed in the British Library in London.
These traditions of calligraphy, care and worship are carried on today in the Lindisfarne Scriptorium by the artist Mary Fleeson, who as a published author, is taking the works of Lindisfarne and the messages contained within them to a new audience of today, and keeping the thoughts and words of Christian worship alive for all to appreciate.
You can visit the Scriptorium shop throughout the year, but the island is only accessible to visitors when the causeway is open, so you are advised to check the tides in advance and be careful not to miss the last leaving time or else you will have to stay on the island till the next low tide! We recommend you check our main website for specific opening times when Mary will be demonstrating.
You can find Mary's beautiful art work imbued with the words of worship and contemplation that make them such a joy to keep and reflect upon in the Scriptorium, along with her best selling book, Life Journey, and her new book, Life in Christ-A call to be in His presence.
Along with her books you will find a superb selection of Mary's beautiful art work in the form of prints, greetings cards and other items.
Another item available to take home from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is the CD, Life Journey. It is the result of collaboration between the founders of the well-known Celtic band Iona and is inspired by Mary's beautiful poetry, paintings and meditations.
