Berefords Arms, Morpeth
The utterly delightful Northumbrian village of Whalton is the setting for the Beresford Arms. This little gem of a village glows with the warm tones of the golden sandstone of its dignified architecture. There's a fantastic sense of community in this small and perfectly formed village, which centres around the distinguished Beresford Arms.
Handsomely located for visiting the delights of Northumberland, and the Borders, the Beresford Arms is a traditional village hostelry, with four delightful en-suite guest bedrooms: Two twin and two double.
A full English breakfast made from fresh local produce is a great start to the day, and sets you up for a fun filled day ahead. Use the Wi-Fi Internet service provided by the Beresford arms to plan your routes and adventures.
The Beresford Arms is situated just seven mikes from Newcastle International Airport, and is easy to get to via the A1 from anywhere in the country. Newcastle's Metro Centre is just fifteen miles away.
Northumberland and the Scottish Borders are packed with amazing things to see and do: The World Heritage Site of the Northumberland Coast, Alnwick Castle, which has featured in the Harry Potter films.
The holy island of Lindisfarne, cradle of Christianity in England, which has an abbey and castle restored by the famous architect and designer, Edwin Lutyens, and a walled garden by the famous garden designer, Gertrude Jekyll.
Cragside, home of Lord Armstrong, the famous industrialist and inventor, who powered his home with the first water powered electric turbine. Berwick upon Tweed, with its stunning Elizabethan fortifications, swan colony, trout and salmon fishing, which was a favourite holiday destination of L.S. Lowry.
The Northumberland countryside around Whalton is superb, and provides guests with the ideal canvas for outdoor sports such as cycling, walking, trout and salmon fishing, horse riding along the golden beaches to Lindisfarne, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, bird and seal watching on the Farne Islands, and stunning views as you play golf at Bamburgh Castle. The Beresford Arms has secure storage for bikes, and plenty of parking for guests.
